my car and I love it. It's mounted to a brcket made of quarter inch thick steel which is bolted to the seat. All hardware is 3/8's inch high grade steel. So in order for me to come loose the seat would have to come out of the car. Now take a look at the stock seatbelt. It is mounted on the door and the "receiver" end is hooked to a bracket which is MUCH thinner than 1/4". It is a little bit of a PITA for everyday use so mine only gets used on "spirited" canyon runs in which I feel VERY safe. As far as it not being legal? not true, They are SCCA legal and DOT approved according to the people I have talked to one of which being a state trooper.
